Dive Damai still considers this to be a standard-type cabin and does not discount pricing for this cabin. As such, this cabin would work especially well for a couple, or for a single occupant. Keep in mind too, when reviewing cabins, the Damai II crew can keep all emptied suitcases / luggage stored safely down below, which will free up floor space.
We are excited to be bringing this bucket list trip to our Salem Scuba family. Our 11 night / 12 day luxury sailing promises to be an amazing adventure and features a wonderful diving itinerary. However, passenger space on the Damai II is limited to 14 people. Cabins will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis; depending on receipt of the reservation deposit.
Komodo: the “land that time forgot.” This World Heritage Site has action packed diving, prehistoric Komodo dragons and spectacular scenery. Below is the draft itinerary for our Damai II, August 2025 sailing:
- Day 1: Arrive to Labuanbajo. Guests will arrive on board and have sufficient time to get comfortable on the boat. After a short journey out, we will do a check dive, in the vicinity of the park. No. of Dives: 1
- Day 2: Central Komodo and Wainilu. Into the current rich channel there are a string of small islands, including Tetawa Besar. This is an area of beautiful reef with plenty of action , including passing mantas and schooling fish. The orange soft corals create a beautiful carpet effect. No. of Dives: 4
- Day 3: Sangeang. The smoking volcano, Sangeang in the north, has some great macro diving. Bubble Reef has evidence of this volcano activity with both yellow sulphur and champagne bubbles in the shallows. Menceng Wall is an unusual black sand wall with a sand slope. Keep your eyes open for unusual nudibranchs, shrimps and other amazing critters, including the much-sought-after Rhinopias scorpionfish. No. of Dives: 4
- Day 4: Gili Banta. With the shape of an underwater caldera, the island is a Must stop on the way to the National Park. “Stairway to Heaven” in the northwest tip, is a dramatic wall with intense coral development, schooling snappers, and thousands of anthias, pelagic. For those in search of more adrenaline, GPS point is a seamount at the mercy of currents, that means: fish action! In Banta, we can also enjoy one of the best night dives of the area, with bobtail squid – or stargazers, as the stars of the show. No. of Dives: 4
- Day 5: Tatawa and Central Komodo. Into the middle of the channel to dive the signature site of Batu Bolong. The “Rock with the Hole,” one of Komodo’s world-class signature dives. Immaculate corals, thousands of anthias in the shallows, giant napolean wrasse, turtles, and passing pelagics. Karang Makassar is an excellent drift dive with manta cleaning action, turtles and sharks. No. of Dives: 4
- Day 6: Padar. The island of Padar has some more secrets, seamounts and rocky formations with an incredible marine diversity, plenty of fish, invertebrates, soft and hard corals. Top world class. As we will be in the south of Komodo, waters can get murkier and cooler. For those more active, there will be a beautiful walk to Komodo’s best view point. No. of Dives: 4
- Day 7: Langkoi. On the southern tip of the island of Komodo, the signature site of Manta Alley has some of the best schooling fish in the south. Though the water may be chilly, the potential for manta action is closely followed by sharks, napolean wrasse, humphead parrotfish, sweetlips and turtles. The island of Padar has more secrets: seamounts and rocky formations, plenty of fish life and for those more active, a beautiful walk to Komodo’s best view point. No. of Dives: 4
- Days 8 and 9: Horseshoe Bay. Horseshoe Bay has a variety of signature sites. The world-famous, Pinnacle of Cannibal Rock has excellent schooling fish action, but also has plenty of macro to discover. The black sand slope of Torpedo Alley has some interesting macro opportunities, especially for the night dive. Yellow Wall is a vertical wall covered in yellow soft corals and yellow crinoids. Even the anchorage is exciting with Komodo dragons prowling up and down the beach, wild boars feeding from the shoreline, flying Brahminy Kites, White Bellied Sea Eagles, deer swimming in the sea, monkeys climbing in the trees. No. of Dives: 4
- Day 10 and 11: Gili Lawa Laut. For some of the best schooling fish action in Komodo, we will head to the north of the park and dive on two seamounts called, Crystal Rock and Castle Rock. Keep your eyes open for cruising sharks amongst the clouds of schooling fish. No. of Dives: 4 and 2
